Gilles Fleut left the Musi-Caf © in Lac-M ©gantic, Quebec at around 1 am on July 6 2013, and had just crossed the rail way tracks when he felt the rush of runaway freight cars roll past his back. He described it as the train passing just feet behind him after he had walked across the train tracks, no lights, no bells, no whistles, no screeching breaks. It missed running him over by a few feet he said. The cars derailed and exploded into a large inferno and levelled much of the downtown area.
