BC-CRAFT-PHOTOGRAPHER-OF-THE-YEAR

Tom Hanson, an Ottawa-based photographer for The Canadian Press, has won the CP Photographer of the Year award. Hanson, who has worked at CP for 10 years, won the award for a portfolio of pictures taken in 2002. The portfolio comprised sports, news and feature photographs. The images included shots of a naked G-8 summit protester, one taken from an unusual angle of Prime Minister Jean Chretien exiting his limo on Parliament Hill and another of a tiny infant born to an AIDS-positive mother being fed through a tube in an incubator in South Africa.
