Elections Canada head: few want agency regulating nomination races
The head of federal elections, Stéphane Perrault, says he's spoken with political parties about whether nomination races need more rules, but he warned there is little appetite to have Elections Canada regulating these contests. The ongoing commission of inquiry into foreign interference is examining how federal candidates are nominated, and whether foreign states are able to influence who ends up on the ballot.
