Feds moving on final steps to ban some single-use plastics

The federal government is banning companies from importing or making some single-use plastic items by the end of this year, from selling them by the end of next year and from exporting them by the end of 2025. Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault and Families Minister Karina Gould made separate announcements on the pending ban Monday, targeting bags, straws, stir sticks, takeout containers, cutlery and six-pack rings.
