HEALTH Heart 1

PREMIUM --

Library filer dated 31/10/2003 of explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes who is launching his latest adventure to raise £2 million to help children and young people with heart disease. Sir Ranulph, who ran seven marathons on seven continents in seven days for charity, now plans to climb the perilous northern ridge of Everest. The adventurer suffered a cardiac arrest at Bristol Airport in 2003, but was saved by staff who were trained to use defibrillator equipment located at the airport in case of such emergencies.
He went on to have a double heart bypass operation, but has continued with his active life and is now raising money for the British Heart Foundation (BHF). See PA story HEALTH Heart. PRESS ASSOCIATION Photo. Photo credit should read: Tim Ockenden/PA
