HMCS Corner Brook 20070826

Lt.-Cmdr. Christopher Robinson, captain of the HMCS Corner Brook. The crew aboard HMCS Corner Brook, hoping to leave behind a disaster aboard a sister submarine three years ago, have returned home in a bid to instill public confidence in Canada’s much-maligned submarine program. The 59 men and women on board, the first Victoria-class submariners to traverse the ice-laden waters of the Arctic, have been under the shadow of the HMCS Chicoutimi fire that killed one of their own on Oct. 5, 2004. As captain of Canada’s lone operational submarine, Lt.-Cmdr. Christopher Robinson is charged with the high order of improving the image of the country’s fleet. (CP PHOTO/Tara Brautigam)
