LEON SPINKS

Leon Spinks, known for his toothless smile and for once beating Muhammad Ali, leans on the ropes at a boxing ring Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, in Lombard, Ill. Thursday, Feb. 15, marked the 23rd anniversary of the fight when Spinks, still fresh from a gold medal at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, took boxing's heavyweight championship from one of the most famous sports figures of the 20th century. He now leads a quiet life in suburban Chicago focusing on his sons' boxing careers and a charitable foundation for first-time criminal offenders and poor single parents.
