NZEALAND Rower 3

Library filer dated 4/4/2001 of British rower Jim Shekhdar, 57, who has called for help Tuesday November 18, 2003, from emergency services 750 miles east of New Zealand in the southern Pacific Ocean after he reported his vessel rolling several times in severe weather. Shekhdar, who is on a non-stop solo journey from the southern port of Bluff to Cape Town in South Africa, contacted rescuers by satellite telephone after the weather broke his oars and swept gear from the deck of his 26ft rowboat Hornette. See PA story NZEALAND Rower. PA Photo: Sean Dempsey.
