Newsroom Ready: Carney opens Inuit leaders meeting on major project legislation
Prime Minister Mark Carney sat down with Inuit leaders in Inuvik to discuss his government's controversial major projects legislation. In his opening remarks, Carney said the One Canadian Economy Act, which gives Ottawa the power to fast-track projects it deems to be in the national interest, fully respects treaty rights -- despite Indigenous leaders saying it does the opposite.
