Newsroom Ready: Feds want fixes, not jurisdiction, for long-term care homes, Trudeau says

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Ottawa has no jurisdiction to force provinces to make any changes to their long-term care systems but believes national standards can be created as provinces share what has worked best. Trudeau says the COVID-19 pandemic laid bare the serious deficiencies in long-term care and it is on all governments to make sure vulnerable seniors are protected no matter where they live.
