Newsroom Ready: Hurricane Larry downs trees, power lines and parts of buildings in N.L.

Hurricane Larry hit eastern Newfoundland as a Category 1 storm early Saturday morning, leaving the streets of St. John's littered with broken branches and blown debris. An elementary school even lost part of its roof. As officials assessed the damage, St. John's Mayor Danny Breen said it could have been worse, and urged people to stay home.
