Newsroom Ready: Manitoba threatens hydroelectric retaliation against U.S. tariffs

Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew has signalled that hydroelectric exports to the United States may be curtailed in response to U.S. tariffs imposed on Canadian goods. Kinew has given his cabinet authority to approve or deny any new or renewed major power deals between Crown-owned Manitoba Hydro and the United States. (March 6, 2025)
