Ukraine's new president is an actor who played a president on TV

Ukraine's new president is an actor who played a president on TV. 41-year-old comedian Volodymyr Zelenskiy has no previous political experience. But that didn't stop him from soundly beating incumbent Petro Poroshenko on Sunday. In a former series called "Servant of the People," Zelenskiy played a teacher who launches a presidential campaign after becoming fed up with government corruption. Zelenskiy went on to transition that same anti-corruption message into his real-life campaign. Despite vague policies about he would do it, Ukrainians desperate for the change voted him in. Zelenskiy will now be tasked with fixing Ukraine's flailing economy. He will also have to deal with the country's government, whose majority still belongs to Poroshenko's political party. If that weren't enough, Zelenskiy also faces ongoing conflict the country has had with neighboring Russia.
