San Francisco 1967

A large group of long-haired hippies greeted the sunrise, from the Haight-Ashbury district hilltop, beginning a three-day wake for the death of the hippie movement, October 6, 1967, San Francisco, Calif. Hippies have been pouring out of town. More are expected to go as San Franciscos chilly fall sets in. We could use some bad weather to speed them on their way, one policeman observed. AP PHOTO
