South Korea Border Christmas Tree
In this Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, South Korean Christians sing a Christmas song in front of a giant steel Christmas tree at the western mountain peak known as Aegibong in Gimpo, South Korea. An official from Seoul’s Defense Ministry said Wednesday that the 18-meter structure was demolished last week after it was reviewed as dangerous in a safety inspection. The tower was erected on a military-controlled hill called Aegibong in 1971. The lighting of the tower was condemned by Pyongyang as propaganda as the lights can be seen as far as the North Korean city of Kaesong. (AP Photo/Lee Jin-man)
