SKATING RINKS

GNM

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford makes his way to the ice surface during a press conference where private funding from Scotiabank and Canadian Tire will keep some Toronto rinks open after were closed for the season. The rink is listed on the city's webpage as "Operational - reduced maintenance, building closed". With the outcry over the closing of some Toronto outdoor skating rinks, the city has reopened some or all until the end of the March break. Assistance from Scotiabank and Canadian Tire will keep an additional 11 rinks open this season. (Fred Lum/The Globe and Mail)
