AP Was There Seeger

FILE - In this April 4, 1961 file photo, Pete Seeger, with a banjo slung over his shoulder, is accompanied by his wife, Toshi, as he arrives at the federal court in New York for sentencing on a conviction for contempt of Congress. He was given a one-year sentence for refusing to answer questions about possible Communist affiliations. Before he was sentenced, Seeger asked Judge Thomas F. Murphy for permission to sing a song. The judge declined. The sentence was eventually overturned on appeal. (AP Photo)
