KENTUCKY DERBY 19640502

Northern Dancer, left with the white nose streak, is running wide coming out of the back stretch while Hill Rise, far left, strains to keep up with him today at Churchill Downs, Louisville, Kentucky, May 2, 1964. The Two horses went on to pass the others and Jockey Bill Hartack kept Northern Dancer ahead of Hill Rise as they crossed the finish line. Horses at right are Mr. Brick (1), The Scoundrel (6), who was third, and Royal Shuck (10). THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
