Medical Marijuana 20131008

A cannabis plant is shown at Sandy Daviau's outdoor garden, nicknamed the Farmacy, in south-west Quebec on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013. A year's supply of cannabis for four patients, including Daviau, as mandated on their licenses, is grown at this outdoor farm. Health Canada is transitioning from the Marihuana Medical Access Program (MMAP), its the current program that permits patients to grow their own cannabis, to the Marihuana for Medical Purposes Regulations (MMPR), where patients will have to purchase their supply from approved and licensed suppliers. By April 2014, home-grown gardens like the one at the Farmacy will be outlawed, a move that advocates say will increase the cost and drive medical marijuana users underground.
