Newsmen Ambushed VIETNAM ARCHIVAL 220

The bodies of four newsmen, attacked and killed by Viet Cong Guerrillas in the Chinese sector of Saigon on May 5, 1968 lie next to the jeep in which they were riding when ambushed. Three of them were killed instantly and the fourth was wounded, then executed. Slain were John Cantwell, an Australian; Ronald B. Laramy, a Briton; Michael Birch of the Australian Associated press; and Bruce S. Pigott, an Australian, executed after being wounded. Frank Palmos, an Australian, escaped. (AP Photo)
