Maria Callas And Enzo Sordello 1956

Opera soprano Maria Callas ignores the proffered hand of baritone Enzo Sordello, who attributed his recent firing by the New York Metropolitan Opera Company as they crossed paths at Idlewild Airport in New York, Dec. 21, 1956. She refused to shake hands because, she said, Sordello refused to apologize "for what he said and what he accused me of." Both singers left for Europe on the same plane. (AP Photo)
