Sifford Exemption Golf

** FILE ** In this Jan. 13, 1969, file photo, Charlie Sifford throws up his arms after he dropped a short par putt on the 18th green to tie Harold Henning at the end of 72 holes in the Los Angeles Open golf tournament. Sifford went on to win the tournament with a birdie on the first extra hole. Nearly 50 years after Sifford became the first black to join the PGA Tour, the Northern Trust Open announced Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, an exemption in his name for a player who represents the advancement of diversity in golf.
