EARTHQUAKE

A big rig truck, a motorhome and other vehicles sit atop a broken section of Highway 14 north of Los Angeles Monday morning, Jan, 17, 1994, following the earthquake that collapsed portions of the overpass. At least 27 poeple were killed, when the quake hit at 4:31 a.m. PST, shattering the sleeping suburbs of the sprawling San Fernando Valley, 20 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.
