OGDEN

Carlos Ogden, shown in this May 19, 1994 photo, received the Medal of Honor for valorous service during World War II. The south San Jose man died Monday, April 2, 2001 aged 83. The Medal of Honor is the military's highest honor. There are only 149 other recipients still living. On June 25, 1944, Ogden single-handedly knocked out a German cannon and machine-gun nest despite being shot twice through the helmet and lying unconscious for a time with a live grenade in one hand.
