COMA BIRTH

Alexis Michelle Cooper, 7lbs. 7oz., is shown on Wednesday July 25, 2001, at University Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Alexis' mother, Chastity Cooper, 23, carried the pregnancy to full term despite being in a coma since an automobile accident in November 2000. Doctors said it is one of few known cases in the United States in which a comatose woman was able to carry a baby to full term. (AP Photo/Cincinnati Enquirer, Tony Jones)
