LURE OF THE FALLS

Tyler J. Canning, of Ontario, Canada, poses at Horseshoe Falls on Nov. 3, 1999, in Niagara Falls, Canada, to demonstrate how he wore three life preservers to swim the Whirlpool rapids below the falls. Canning donated one of the preservers to Ripley's Believe It or Not museum in Niagara Falls and sold another along with related items from the stunt to the Daredevil Museum in Niagara Falls, N.Y. He also was fined $1,500 for the illegal stunt by Canadian authorities. (APPhoto/David Duprey)
