Laos Plot

** FILE **Former Wisconsin State Senator Gary George addresses members of the media on the steps of the Federal Court House following his court appearance Dec. 12, 2003, in Milwaukee. A federal investigator has implicated George and a former aide who once led his outreach to the Hmong community in a plot with Gen. Vang Pao to violently overthrow the communist Laotian government. George, 53, has not been charged and his lawyer says he did nothing wrong. But a federal agent said in an affidavit that "probable cause exists to believe" that George was involved in the conspiracy to kill and injure Laotian residents, destroy buildings and illegally ship weapons such as anti-aircraft missiles and machine guns.
