Austria Welcoming Jews

** ADVANCE FOR SUNDAY, MARCH 4 ** FILE ** This is an overview of the Judenplatz in Vienna and the Holocaust monument created by British artist Rachel Whiteread in commemoration of the 65,000 Austrian Jews who died during the Nazi-regime prior to the unveiling ceremony, on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000. Vienna as a good place to be if your are Jewish is just one of the lesser-known aspects city officials hope to present during four days of events beginning March 4, 2007 in New York City. Much of the "Vienna in New York" presentation focuses on how the city has changed from a place associated with some of the worst Nazi atrocities to a community that continues to make amends for the crimes perpetrated by Hitler and his associates, many of them fellow Austrians.
