Lawmaker Pensions

** FILE ** Former state Rep. Elinor Z. Taylor, right, watches as former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge signs the state budget into law during ceremonies in Harrisburg, Pa., in this June 22, 2001, file photo. Information obtained by The Associated Press under the state Right-to-Know Law on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, shows 36 former state lawmakers who retired or lost re-election bids in 2006, including Taylor, collected lump-sum payments totaling nearly $4 million on their way out of state service, in addition to annual pensions that averaged $43,000 apiece. The largest pension, $131,000, is going to Taylor, who was elected to the House in 1976. She also collected a lump sum of $187,000.(AP Photo/Paul Vathis, File)
