Pat Fordice died Thursday, July 12, 2007, at her home in Madison, Miss., after battling cancer. She was 72. Fordice had announced in December 2006, that she had cancer. Fordice's ex-husband, Kirk Fordice, served as governor from 1992-2000, becoming Mississippi's first Republican governor in modern times to win consecutive terms.
