NM Year In Review Drought Praying For Rain

FILE - In this March 19, 2013 file photo, a trickle of water left in the Rio Grande is pushed downstream by the wind near the chile growing community of Hatch, N.M. In southern New Mexico, the mighty Rio Grande has gone dry, and farmers are worried about dwindling water supplies as the state enters its third straight year of drought. Religious leaders throughout eastern New Mexico and West Texas have planned their second day of prayer related to the drought. This time it's focused on giving thanks for rain throughout the summer and early fall that helped ease a drought that has plagued the region for years. While much of New Mexico and Texas are still dealing with moderate to severe drought, conditions have improved significantly since the start of the year. (AP Photo/Susan Montoya Bryan, File)
