Vincent Gigante, known to law enforcers as "The Chin," is shown in handcuffs on July 8, 1958, as he arrives at New York's Federal Courthouse where he was arraigned on narcotics conspiracy charges. Gigante, who prosecutors say is faking mental illness to conceal his role as boss of New York's Genovese crime family, faces trial on a 21-count indictment that includes seven murders, three murder conspiracies, extortion and other crimes. He faces life imprisonment if convicted. Opening statements will begin, Wednesday, June25, 1997. (AP Photo)
