Marconi Experiment

FILE - This is an undated photo of Italian physicist Guglielmo Marconi, winner of the 1909 Nobel Prize in physics for his development of wireless telegraphy. A group of scientists are conducting tests that could debunk Marconi’s historic claim that he received the first wireless transatlantic message in Newfoundland more than a century ago. Skeptics say the Italian inventor, dubbed the father of radio after stating he had achieved the technological milestone on Dec. 12, 1901, probably heard static or lightning storms instead of a telegraph signal from Poldhu, England.
