Lydia Marie Barragan

Lydia Marie Barragan of Monpelier, France, tells of her ordeal in Canada's Arctic wilderness July 29, 1987, in Fort Good Hope, N.W.T. while recovering from blistered feet. Lydia's companion drowned after their canoe capsized 60-kilometres north of Colville Lake when a forest fire chased the two campers from their campsite. (CP/Peter Bregg)
