Hurricane Forecast 20190523

Meteorologist Bob Robichaud discusses the potential impacts of the upcoming 2017 hurricane season at the Canadian Hurricane Centre in Dartmouth, N.S. on May 25, 2017. The Canadian Hurricane Centre is urging citizens to guard against any complacency arising due to the years that have passed since the most powerful tropical weather wreaked havoc in a coastal community. The United States' National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released its latest hurricane activity outlook Thursday, predicting nine to 15 named storms this season, with four to eight becoming hurricanes and two to four being major hurricanes. Bob Robichaud, a warning preparedness meteorologist at the centre, noted today the overall frequency was similar to last year. THE CANADIAN PRESS/Andrew Vaughan
