Freeland urges support for new pandemic aid

Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland is calling on the opposition parties to support upcoming legislation that would provide additional aid to businesses hurt by COVID-19. She says the government will soon table a bill to revamp rent-relief and wage subsidy programs. Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole says aid is still needed, but says the overall support package should be better focused to avoid repeats of Liberal mistakes from the first wave of the pandemic.
