This year’s Midnight Madness program at the Toronto International Film Festival will feature 10 genre-blurring comedies, action flicks and slashers, opening with Matt Johnson’s “Nirvanna the Band the Show The Movie.” Lead programmer Peter Kuplowsky says he gravitated towards comedies this time after noticing “a desire amongst contemporary audiences to laugh in cinemas again.” (July 24, 2025)
