TORONTO DETECTIVES SHOT BY BANDITS -- Toronto Police Detective Sergeant Roy Perry lays wounded in a hospital bed in Toronto, March 6, 1952. Earlier in the day, Perry and his partner, Sergeant of Detectives Edmund Tong had spotted a vehicle wanted in an armed robbery. In order to question the suspects, Tong left his cruiser and approached the stopped vehicle where he was shot and wounded. Parry was also wounded in the gunfire. Both suspects escaped but were later arrested in Montreal. Edmund Tong died March 23. Leonard Jackson and Steve Suchan were later convicted and executed for Tong’s murder.
