Newsroom Ready: Conservatives call Liberal action to help canola farmers inadequate, while Saskatchewan welcomes relief

The federal government is changing a payment program for canola farmers to help those affected by China's decision to ban the Canadian product. Conservative foreign affairs critic Erin O'Toole says by failing to appoint an ambassador to China and launch a formal WTO trade complaint against China, Justin Trudeau appears weak on the world stage. In Regina, Premier Scott Moe says the federal government's boost to cash advances will give some breathing space for canola farmers nervous about an ongoing trade dispute with China. Scott Moe has been calling for action out of Ottawa since China blocked recent shipments of canola over what many consider to be retaliation for Canada's detention of Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou.
