OLD TREE OTTAWA 19731106

An 80-year-old tree on Parliament Hill that has been suffering from Dutch Elm disease has been saved thanks to tender, loving care, Ottawa, Ont., Nov. 6, 1973. Located behind a statue of Sir John A. MacDonald, this tree fell sick in 1966 and has been pruned and sprayed annually since then. The initial treatment cost 250 dollars. THE CANADIAN PRESS/Fred Chartrand
