The Beautiful Bulldog Contest at Drake University has run for 43 years.
The event kicks off a week-long celebration of the Drake Relays track and field event.
Thirty English bulldogs try to impress judges in hopes of being crowned the Most Beautiful Bulldog.
The winner then serves a year-long reign as the Drake Relays mascot .
During the contest, each contestant walks the pageant runway.
This is prime time for the pups to show off their stuff or do tricks.
Judges meet each contestant and determine the winners of each award category.
Some of the categories are Drake Spirit, Best Dressed, Congeniality, Rescue Dog Recognition, and Most Beautiful Bulldog.
It’s up to the judges to decide how each bulldog best represents one of the nine awards.
