On Dec. 6, 1989, a gunman murdered 14 women in an anti-feminist attack at a Montreal engineering school. Fourteen beams of light were projected over the Montreal skyline as the names of the 14 women whose lives were taken were read aloud. Dignitaries, families of victims, and members of the public gathered to remember the victims and to raise awareness to ongoing violence against women in Canada.
