Liberals move to make good on promise to cut taxes for most Canadians

Finance Minister Bill Morneau introduced a motion to deliver on a campaign promise to raise the basic personal income tax exemption to $15,000. The proposed changes would be fully implemented by 2023 and the government would gradually phase out the benefits for higher-income earners. The NDP are suggesting the Liberals limit the tax cut to anyone earning $90,000 and put the savings into a plan for dental care.
