Chinese workers stack cages of minks for transfer to a holding pen on a large scale mink farm on the outskirts of Harbin in Heilongjiang Province, China on December 2, 2008. Mink farmers usually breed female mink once a year and the pelts are harvested in the late fall, early winter and the best animals are held over until the next year to restock the farm. The mink is the most commonly farmed animal for its fur and often prized by high society fashion. The mink's rich glossy coat is brown in its wild state but farm bred variety ranges from white to almost black. China supplies more than half of the finished fur garments imported for sale in the United States. Photo by Simon Lim/Pictobank/ABACAPRESS.COM
