China Flying Tigers

FILE - American pursuit pilots of the famed Flying Tigers run for their Curtiss P-40 fighters as an air raid warning sounds, at an unknown airbase in China, on November 2, 1943. Veterans, historians and officials from China and the United States celebrated the 80th anniversary of the Flying Tigers, an air unit that delivered aid to Chinese troops fighting the Japanese military occupation during World War II. The meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, was a reminder of positive historic ties between China and the U.S. on the same day the two countries' leaders spoke after years of rising tensions between the world's largest economies.
