The mayors of Canada’s largest cities say they need federal aid to cover tens of millions in ridership revenue shortfalls to stave off a stalling of the country’s economic recovery. Halifax Mayor Mike Savage, who chairs the big city mayor's caucus at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, says the alternatives are service cuts or scaling back on federally funded capital upgrades.
