At a Montreal fruit and vegetable market, clients pay what they can

The pay-what-you-can market is an initiative of Share the Warmth, which also operates a food bank and provides other community services in Montreal. Unlike the food bank, however, clients at the market aren’t only low-income. Shoppers at have the option of paying the lowest price, a slightly higher “share the warmth” price, or a “pay it forward” price. (March 31, 2024)
