Ontario reversing course on Region of Peel dissolution, cites tax hike concerns

Ontario is reversing course on its plan to dissolve the Region of Peel, with the government citing concerns that the move could have led to significant municipal tax hikes. It is the latest in a series of major policies the Progressive Conservative government has walked back since Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister Paul Calandra took over the housing portfolio after his predecessor resigned amid the Greenbelt scandal.
