Eton's new Headmaster Mr Anthony Chenevix-Trench, 44, former headmaster of Bradfield College, Berkshire, pictured in his study at Eton. Mr Chenevix-Trench was educated at Shrewsbury and Christ Church, Oxford, and on the outbreak of war, during his second year at Oxford, he joined the Royal Artillery. After receiving a Commission in 1940 he was seconded to the Indian Artillery (4th Hazara Mountain Battery, Frontier Force) and was later taken prisoner by the Japanese in Singapore in 1942. After the war he went back to Christ Church to resume studies and gained a first class in Literae Humaniores. In 1948 he became assistant master at Shrewsbury and in 1951 was appointed tutor in classics back at Christ Church. He returned to Shrewsbury as a housemaster in 1952 and went to Bradfield in 1955. He is also Married with three children.
