FILE - In this Dec. 28, 2004 file photo, rescue and clean-up crew survey a flooded lobby at the Seapearl Beach Hotel along Patong Beach on Phuket Island, Thailand, after massive tsunami waves smashed coastlines Sunday morning. Friday marks the 10th anniversary of one of the deadliest natural disasters in world history: a tsunami, triggered by a massive earthquake off the Indonesian coast, leaving more than 230,000 people dead in 14 countries and causing about $10 billion in damage. Countries from Indonesia to India to Africa's east coast were hit, leaving shocking scenes of death and destruction. (The Canadian Press, Deddeda Stemler, File)
Several power transmission towers are toppled by heavy, wet snow, coupled with high winds in Dartmouth, N.S. on Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004. The increasing intensity of storms that lead to massive power outages highlights the need for Canada's electrical utilities to be more robust and innovative, climate change scientists say. Mars has a nasty habit of living up to its mythological name and besting Earth when it comes to accepting visitors. NASA's InSight is the latest spacecraft to come calling, with every intent of landing and digging deeper into the planet than anything that's come before. Playing through a broken jaw is a time-honored hockey tradition that added another chapter with Zdeno Chara’s inspiring ability to take the ice Thursday, June 6, 2019. Four decades after Barry Melrose, 27 years since Rick Tocchet and 20 since Roenick gritted their teeth through broken jaws in playoff hockey, it’s a reminder that players will sacrifice their teeth and break bones in their face for a chance to lift the Stanley Cup.
